Pakistan Army's Short Service Commission (SSC) is a program that allows individuals to serve as an officer for a short period of time compared to  regular service. The general criteria for joining  Pakistan Army through  Short Service Commission are as follows: General Eligibility Criteria:
1. Nationality:
 Must be a Pakistani citizen. 
2. Gender:
Depending on the SSC branch, both males and females are welcome to apply.
 3. Age:
Age requirements vary by industry and specialty, but are typically between 18 and 35 years old. 
4. Marital status:
 Both married and unmarried applicants are welcome to apply.
 5. Education:
 At least a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (14-16 years of education) is required.  Certain branches may have additional training requirements. For example, medical corps requires appropriate medical certification. 
6. Physical Requirements:
Size:
 Male:
 At least 5 feet 4 inches (162.5 cm).  
 Female: 
At least 5 feet (152.4 cm).  
Weight:  
 As per  Body Mass Index (BMI) standards. 
7. Medical Suitability:
Candidates must be medically fit as per  Pakistan Army medical standards. 
 Selection Process:
 1. Registration:
 Register online or visit the Army Selection and Recruiting Center (AS&RC). 
2. Written/Intelligence Test:
Initial testing includes written and intelligence tests conducted at the AS&RC.
 3. Initial Medical Examination:
 Conducted at the AS&RC.
 4. Interview:
 Candidates who pass the initial exam and medical examination will be interviewed by the Preliminary Selection Committee.
 5. ISSB Test:
 Candidates recommended by the Preliminary Selection Board will be invited to appear for the Inter-Services Selection Board (ISSB) Test, which includes Psychological Test, Physical Test and Group Discussion. 
6. Final Medical Examination:
 To be conducted at a Military Hospital. 
7. Final Selection:
 Based on overall merit including academic qualifications, exam scores, medical qualifications etc. 
Special Branches (Examples):
1. Army Education Corps (AEC):
Masters degree or higher in a  relevant subject. 
2. Corps of Engineers:
 Engineering graduate (B.Eng/B.Eng) in a relevant field. 
3. Signal Corps:
 Engineering graduates in the field of Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunication or Computer Technology.
 4. Army Medical Corps (AMC):
 MBBS, BDS or equivalent medical qualification recognised by PMDC.
5. Judge Advocate General (JAG) Branch:
 LLB with  valid qualification as an Advocate General. 
Length of Service  and Career Development Length of Service:
 Normally 5-7 years with  possibility of extension or conversion to  regular commission depending on performance and service requirements. 
Career Development:
 Officers may be promoted  to the rank of Major and above based on length of service, performance and availability of positions.
