Pakistan Inter-Services Selection Board (ISSB)  is a crucial stage for candidates who wish to join the Pakistan Army. One of the most important components of  ISSB assessment is the group discussion and lecture tasks. Here is the breakdown of what you need to know:
1. Group Discussion: 
Objective: 
 Group discussion assesses a candidate's ability to communicate effectively, work in a team, lead a discussion and deal with different opinions. It also assesses their confidence, logical thinking and  ability to remain calm under pressure.  
Process: 
 Candidates are divided into small groups and given a topic for discussion. - Topics  range from current affairs, social issues, national and international politics to moral and ethical dilemmas. Each candidate is expected to actively participate, contribute meaningful points and constructively advance the discussion. 
General Topics: 
Current Affairs:
Ex: B. "Impact of Social Media on Youth", "Climate Change and its Impact on Pakistan". 
Social Issues:
 Ex: B. "Gender Equality in Pakistan", "Education System Reform". 
Politics/Economic Questions:
 Ex: B. "Role of Pakistan in the Global Economy", "Pakistan's Foreign Policy". 
Moral/Ethical Dilemmas:
 Ex: B. "Corruption
Causes and Solutions", "Importance of Integrity in Leadership". 
 2. Mini Lecture: 
Objective: 
This short lecture tests the candidate's ability to think quickly, organize their thoughts quickly and give a coherent and effective speech. Fluency, clarity of thought and confidence are also assessed. 
Process
 Candidates are given a list of topics and have to choose one. - They  usually have 1-2 minutes to prepare their thoughts and 2-3 minutes to deliver their presentation. - Lecture topics  are generally simple and may include general issues or abstract concepts. 
General Topics: 
Abstract Topics: 
Ex: B. "Time is Money", "Importance of Discipline", "Honesty Lasts the Longest".
General Knowledge:
 Ex: B. "Role of Technology in Modern Warfare", "Importance of Physical Fitness". 
Current Affairs/Topics: 
Ex: B. "Role of Pakistan in World Peace", "Importance of CPEC for Pakistan". ###3. **Preparation Tips**: - **Stay Updated**: Always stay up to date by reading newspapers, watching news channels and following the latest happenings regularly. - **Practice Public Speaking**: Participate in debates, discussions and mock lectures to improve your expressiveness and confidence. 
Organize Your Thoughts
Practice organizing your thoughts quickly and logically to express them effectively.
Active Participation: 
Contribute actively during group discussions,  listen to others' opinions and maintain a respectful and constructive attitude.
4. Assessment Criteria:
Communication Skills: 
Clarity, fluency and effectiveness of communication.
Leadership Skills:
 Ability to demonstrate leadership, lead discussions and influence others.  **Teamwork**: Ability to work well with others, accept differing opinions and contribute to group goals.
Knowledge and Awareness: 
Deep understanding of the topic and the relevance of the points discussed.  Confidence and Poise:
 Ability to speak confidently and remain calm under pressure. Successful completion of these tasks will have a significant impact on your overall performance in  ISSB and will increase your chances of selection.
